Holidays in Bavaria
BAVARIA FREE STATE
From the banks of the Danube to the foothills of the Alps – Bavaria has sun in its heart and tradition in its blood! And you’re right at the heart when you stay with us in the OLYMP Munich.
INGOLSTADT
The second largest city in Upper Bavaria offers visitors a warm welcome.
Nicely refreshed after a relaxing start to the day with our 20-metre breakfast buffet, you can reach the city of Ingolstadt, on the Danube River, in about 35–40 minutes from the OLYMP Munich. Whether you prefer to shop till you drop in the Ingolstadt Village Outlet Centre, explore technical dynamics in the Audi Museum or take a leisurely stroll through a beautiful historic old town, you will take many beautiful memories with you to your hotel room and then back home.
LANDSHUT
Every 4 years there is a special celebration here…
…the world-famous “Landshut Wedding”. It is a historic spectacle with over 2000 participants, a procession and a tournament featuring knights and equestrian skills. But even on an average day, Landshut has plenty to offer with its medieval castle, a picturesque old town and
extensive parks on the Isar. What’s more, it can all be reached in “nullkommanix” (Bavarian for about 25 minutes) from our free car park.
FREISING CATHEDRAL TOWN WITH WEIHENSTEPHAN
Bavarian pleasures
In an old monastery high above the cathedral town of Freising is the Brauerei Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world. Experience and taste the art of brewing beer on one of the numerous brewery tours, before settling down in the beer garden of the traditional Bräustüberl. The historic old town of Freising
and Freising Cathedral, visible from afar, are also well worth a visit.
THE BAVARIAN LAKES
Cool water wherever you look.
There is no shortage of beautiful lakes around our beautiful OLYMP Munich. Right outside the door, the small Echinger See is a lovely place to go for a walk or a refreshing dip after an eventful day, proving that wonderful things come in small packages. Boating is best enjoyed on the lakes of Ammersee and Starnberger See to the southwest (about 40 minutes by car). On Lake Tegernsee, you will find not only a casino and beer gardens, but also a wonderful alpine panorama. It takes about 50 minutes to drive to the Bräustüberl Tegernsee. About half an hour further on you reach the “Bavarian Sea” – Lake Chiemsee. Sail over to the island of Herrenchiemsee or get active in the climbing park.
ROYAL BAVARIA
King Ludwig’s heritage: fairy-tale castles
They have to be seen to be believed! Whether you are the romantic type or not, the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein – said to have inspired Walt Disney – and Linderhof Palace exert a magical attraction. When you see the interiors, you can only guess what the mind of the Bavarian King Ludwig II must have been like. Both magnificent buildings are an absolute MUST for every visitor to Bavaria. Enchanting, extraordinary but also simply beautiful, they are easily accessible from the OLYMP Munich via the A9 motorway in 1.5 hours (Linderhof Palace) or 1.75 hours (Neuschwanstein Castle).
